He said that the venue the protest remained the same and it will now take place on August 8.
“Shibu Soren stood by the Congress party in difficult times. He also stood by the ideology of the Congress party. May his soul rest in peace,” Shivakumar said offering his condolences.
“Though August 8 is Varamahalakshmi festival, we have decided to give priority to the party work. We will ensure that there are no obstacles for the public celebrating the festival. The senior leaders have instructed us to conduct the legislative party meeting once again, we will discuss it with the CM,” the deputy chief minister said.
Asked about BJP’s counter protest, he said, “We welcome criticisms and protests in a democracy. They are supporting the Election Commission. The Commission must be impartial. During the election, our candidate from Mahadevapura had lodged a complaint but it was not attended to by the Election Commission. Upon further investigation, more things have come to limelight. We can’t sit quietly because it has come to light late. We will place our findings before the public and they will decide who is right and and who is wrong.”
