Virat Kohli recently stunned the cricket fraternity after he announced his sudden retirement from the Test format on May 12, 2025. The decision came just ahead of the England tour, where Kohli was expected to feature. With his retirement from the T20Is in 2024 already behind him, the only format that remains is the ODIs in which Virat Kohli will feature.

Uncertainty Over Virat Kohli’s ODI Future

After India’s win in the Champions Trophy 2025, Virat Kohli was a key contributor, but now reports are emerging that Kohli might have to play the Vijay Hazare Trophy. And if not the domestic tournament, there is a report by PTI which states that both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli might have to play India A games in order to prove their fitness for future ODI appearances. As far as the Vijay Hazare Trophy is concerned, there is no official confirmation whether Virat Kohli will be featuring in it or not.

When Was The Last Time Virat Kohli Played Vijay Hazare Trophy?

The star Indian batter, Kohli, hasn’t featured in a white-ball game for Delhi since 2013. But in January 2025, he played his last game in red-ball format for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy. His last appearance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy was in February 2010. Leading Delhi against Yashpal Singh’s services, Kohli captained the side, and the team consisted of star players like Shikhar Dhawan, Rajat Bhatia and Mithun Manhas.

Skipper Kohli only managed to score 16 runs in that match while Mithun Manhas scored a commanding 148 and powered Delhi to a formidable total of 311. Delhi’s lethal bowling lineup piled up services for 198 and secured a dominant 113-run win, bagging five points for the team. In 2013, Kohli made another domestic appearance in the NKP Salve Challengers Trophy.
