North Delhi Strikers Win By 11 Runs Against West Delhi Lions News24 –

A team effort across the board ensured North Delhi Strikers put up a gritty 11-run win over West Delhi Lions in the 19th match of the Delhi Premier League Season 2 played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Lions’ Chase Derails After Early Setbacks

Pursuing 166 for a win, West Delhi Lions faltered early on, losing two early wickets to Vikas Dixit and captain Harshit Rana, leaving them struggling at 13/2. Wicketkeeper Krish Yadav attempted to stabilize the innings with 23 off 23 deliveries, but the asking rate kept rising.

Hrithik Shokeen was outstanding as he scored 51 off mere 24 deliveries, studded with five fours and three sixes. His whirlwind knock was supplemented by a 49-run partnership in 19 balls to revive the chase. But the Strikers’ momentum came back when Deepanshu Gulia threw a game-altering spell, taking three major wickets in the middle overs. Harshit Rana then bowled a penultimate tight over to end the innings at 154/8, securing the victory.

Strikers Post Competitive Total

Declaring to bat first, North Delhi Strikers scored 165/9 in their 20 overs. Sarthak Ranjan helped the side with a good start with his 42 off 33 balls, while Arjun Rapria brought life into the innings with a scorching 40 off only 22 deliveries, which included three fours and three sixes.

Additions by Yajas Sharma (23 off 15) and Yash Bhatia (22 off 17) kept the scorecard moving, although consistent breakthroughs from the Lions’ bowlers denied the Strikers from compiling an even larger score.

Bowling Highlights

Mayank Gusain was the standout performer for West Delhi Lions he took 3 impressive wickets by giving away just 2 runs in his solitary over. Despite his heroics, the Lions couldn’t convert the pressure into a win.
