In a surprising turn of events Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were excluded from the ICC ODI batting rankings which were released on Wednesday. This left all the cricket fans in confusion as the duo were placed at No.2 and No.4 respectively before. But just after a week now they have vanished from the Top 100.

The abrupt absence of India’s star batters have sparked a wave of confusion and many speculations on whether this was a deliberate move or a technical glitch.

Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli Missing From ICC ODI Rankings

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have retired from the Test format and T20Is, hence the duo will only be seen playing ODIs, Their last appearance was in February 2025 during the ICC Champions Trophy which was held in UAE, where India won the title. Before the drop from ODI Rankings, Rohit Sharma was at the second position just behind Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli was sitting at the fourth spot. But in the new rankings Babar Azam moved up at Rohit’s position.

ICC Issues Clarification

The update has not been officially acknowledged or explained by the ICC, leading many to believe it could be a system error.

An ICC Spokesperson speaking to Hindustan Times told about why Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were missing. “There was an error in our rankings tables today, but it has been rectified,” the official said.
