TVS Orbiter Electric Scooter Set To Debut On August 28: A Budget-Friendly EV On The Cards?

Expanding its electric scooter range, TVS has planned to bring in a new EV scooter positioned below the iQube in the company’s EV portfolio. The new scooter is likely to be called the Orbiter, and TVS has now issued invites confirming the launch on August 28, as per Autocar. This will be an all-new product designed with a completely fresh aim.

TVS Orbiter India Launch Details and Price Expectations

Autocar has further revealed that while the invites confirm the final launch date, they do not describe the scooter itself. According to the report, TVS is developing a simple, no-frills scooter that will use a hub-mounted motor to keep costs low.

The new scooter will serve as an entry point into the TVS lineup. The Orbiter name is the front-runner for this model, though the company has also filed trademarks for other names such as EV One and O.

Since the iQube already comes in multiple variants, it’s likely that the new scooter will also be offered in different versions. Pricing for the iQube starts at ₹1 lakh for the base 2.2 kWh variant and goes up to nearly ₹2 lakh for the top-spec 5.1 kWh version. Given its positioning, the upcoming Orbiter is expected to be priced below the iQube, featuring a smaller battery, simpler parts, and fewer features.

With government incentives driving the adoption of EVs, manufacturers like TVS are increasingly introducing models across various price points to appeal to a wider audience.
