From Miami To London: Messi Saga Repeats? Wesley Fofana Social Media Hint Stirs Chelsea Chaos

Just weeks after the football world buzzed with speculation around Lionel Messi’s future at Inter Miami, Stamford Bridge finds itself at the centre of a similar storm. This time, it’s Wesley Fofana who has sparked rumours after scrubbing his Instagram account of Chelsea-related posts, sending fans into a frenzy about a potential exit.

But Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca insists there’s nothing to worry about.

Speaking ahead of Friday’s London derby against West Ham, Maresca moved swiftly to silence the noise surrounding the French defender, who has struggled for game time and fitness since arriving from Leicester City in 2022 for a hefty £70 million.

“I spoke with Wes every day. He’s very happy, first of all because he’s back from injury… We are happy, he is happy. About Instagram, I don’t have any idea because I don’t use social networks,” Maresca said.

A Familiar Social Media Move

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Fofana has wiped his social media clean. He pulled the same move at Leicester shortly before sealing his big-money switch to Chelsea – a coincidence that hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Blues’ fanbase.

Adding fuel to the fire, the 24-year-old was left out of the starting XI for Sunday’s goalless draw against Crystal Palace, with 19-year-old academy talent Josh Acheampong preferred alongside Trevoh Chalobah.

However, Maresca revealed that Fofana’s omission was purely down to his recovery process, having missed most of last season due to a hamstring injury.

“He was on the bench just to be with us but from Friday he can get some minutes,” Maresca confirmed, suggesting a return to action is imminent.

A Squad Under Scrutiny

Beyond the Fofana saga, Maresca has also been vocal about Chelsea’s need for reinforcements. With Levi Colwill sidelined and Tosin Adarabioyo only just returning, the Italian tactician hinted that the club may have to explore internal solutions for their defensive setup, despite previously urging the board to consider a replacement.

For now, though, all eyes will be on whether Fofana steps onto the pitch at the London Stadium and whether his Instagram activity proves to be nothing more than a harmless social media reset or a subtle hint at something bigger brewing.
