‘You Are A Woman, You Can’t Live…’ Kerala Congress Leader Rahul Mamkootathil MLA’s Audio Clip Surfaces, Revealing Threats To Pregnant Woman And Forcing Abortion
Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil has been suspended from the Congress party in Kerala. Several women, including actor-model-turned-journalist Rini Ann George and transgender woman Avantika, accused him of sending offensive and sexually suggestive messages since 2023.
A leaked audio clip has surfaced online, allegedly showing him threatening a pregnant woman and coercing her into an abortion. Reports also indicate that he was in contact with the woman’s friend, a media professional, with whom he is alleged to have had an affair.
Actor-model-turned-journalist Rini Ann George and transgender woman Avantika have come forward, saying that Rahul used to send them sexually suggestive messages. They also allege that Rahul would invite them to 5-star hotels for overnight stays. After speaking out, Rini Ann George further stated that the Palakkad MLA used to harass her through messages, and she had reported this to the Congress leadership. She also claimed that Rahul has repeatedly misbehaved with the wives and daughters of several leaders.
Due to suspension, Rahul Mamkootathil will have to sit in a separate block during the assembly session beginning on September 15. However, it is expected that Rahul may take leave and avoid attending the session. The KPCC will also seek a written explanation from him regarding the allegations. If his response is found unsatisfactory, the party is likely to proceed with his expulsion.

Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, who is facing several sexual misconduct allegations, allegedly forced a woman to have an abortion and threatened to kill her if she resisted.
An audio clip of a conversation between the Palakkad MLA and the woman shows that he was worried that the pregnancy would “destroy” his life. He also warned that there would be “consequences if he got angry.”
News 24 cannot individually verify the authenticity of the four-minute-nine-seconds audio clip that surfaced online on Saturday.
The clip went viral a few days after Mamkootathil resigned as Youth Congress President. The controversy began when Rini George accused a youth leader from a major political party of misconduct. She did not name anyone. The opposition BJP claimed Mamkootathil was involved, but he denied the charges. Later, writer Honey Bhaskaran and transgender activist Avanthika also accused him of inappropriate behaviour. The BJP has demanded that Mamkootathil resign from the state assembly.
The clip begins with the woman asking Mamkootathil ” What do you mean you want to get rid of that(child) without my permission?
Rahul answers: “It’s not about your permission, you aren’t thinking about it, you aren’t thinking about the consequences.” However, the woman says that she will face the consequences without Rahul’s help.”
Then Makootathil says, “I know that you can’t face the consequences. I know you well, and If I get angry, I don’t know what I will do.” In the tape, Rahul also threatens the woman that he can do anything to that woman in a second- “To kill you, what do you think, I just need a few seconds.”
Rahul Mamkootathil is heard saying- “I have spoken to you very calmly. Till this moment, I haven’t said any bad things to you. You are a woman. Is this your ideal in life? This will destroy your life and my career.”
She also said that she is capable of taking care of her child without his help- “I can raise that child well. I don’t need your help.”
