Asia Cup 2025 – Team India Squad To Assemble Directly In Dubai On THIS Date

As the 2025 Asia Cup approaches, Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian cricket team is ready to take a strong stride. The team of 15 members will report directly to Dubai on September 4, before the first match of the tournament on September 9.

In a departure from the conventional practice, the cricketers will travel from their respective cities in a staggered fashion to Dubai, instead of assembling in Mumbai first. The move, a senior BCCI official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, was prompted by logistical ease and comfort of the players.

“All the players will reach Dubai by September 4 evening and the first nets session will be conducted on September 5 at the ICC Academy. It did not make sense to get players to come to Mumbai first and then get them to fly to Dubai, considering the Dubai flight is relatively short,” the official clarified.

India’s Asia Cup campaign will get underway against the UAE on September 10, followed by an incendiary encounter against arch-rivals Pakistan on September 14 in Dubai. The group stage will end with a game against Oman on September 19, before the tournament shifts into the Super Four stage.

A number of players are also involved in domestic cricket obligations. Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana are playing for North Zone against East Zone in the Duleep Trophy quarterfinals, while Kuldeep Yadav is playing for Central Zone against North East Zone.

When queried if standby players such as Prasidh Krishna or Washington Sundar would be joining the team along with the main squad as net bowlers, the official assured that they would not be part of the traveling party at this juncture.

Having adopted a direct arrival strategy coupled with a well-balanced side where youth and experience would coexist, India hopes to come out firing on all cylinders in Dubai and establish a positive platform for a winning Asia Cup campaign.
