A shocking incident took place on Monday afternoon when a car and a truck collided near Greater Noida’s Eastern Peripheral Expressway, killing one of the five university students and seriously injuring four. All the students were pursuing Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from a private university. The accident occurred around 3:40 pm near a dhaba near Rampur Fatehpur village.
Police officials who reached the spot found that the car was completely mangled. Times of India quoted a senior official saying, “We pulled the students out from under the debris with the help of passersby”. 23-year-old Ishika, a second-year student, was declared dead on the way to Fortis Hospital. The other four Anvi, Yugraj Singh, Harsh and Yash, aged between 20 and 23, are admitted to the hospital with serious injuries.
Initial investigations found beer bottles inside the car, leading the police to suspect that the students were under the influence of alcohol. According to the police, the accident occurred when the car collided with a slow-moving truck ahead of it while moving at a high speed. Investigation is on to find out who the driver was, but it is clear that Ishika was sitting in the front seat.
A video of the accident spot has also surfaced, in which locals can be seen trying to open the bent metal doors of the car so that the rescue team can take out the injured students. The team of Dadri police station is investigating the matter, while the entire town is mourning the accident and wishing for the speedy recovery of the injured students.
