Family Feud In Telangana Opposition Party BRS explodes; KCR Suspends Daughter Kavitha For “Anti-Party Activities” News24 –

Telangana Opposition BRS first family’s family intrigues on Tuesday saw the ouster of K Kavitha, the daughter of founder of the party K Chandrashekhara Rao from the party for her “Anti-party activities”.

Political rivals of the former Chief Minister and his party, the ruling Congress in the state and the other opposition party, the BJP, dub this as a mere family drama. But both these parties used the allegations of corruption coming from Kavita, against her cousins, both senior leaders of the party, to target KCR and his party and pin them down on the corruption issue.

In fact, it was for her reiteration of corruption charges against her cousins — senior BRS leaders, former irrigation minister T Harish Rao and former MP J Santosh Rao — that proved to be the last straw that broke the camels back, and her suspension order was read out by BRS general secretary, T Ravinder Rao to the media.

“Kavitha’ behaviour in recent times and her anti-party activities are hurting the BRS. The leadership has taken serious note of it,” he said reading out the suspension order.

This prompted immediate protests from volunteers of a social organisation – Telangana Jagruti – Kavitha floated. Kavitha had alleged that her cousins had amassed huge assets and made her father KCR a scapegoat in the alleged scam in the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project. Her supporters insisted that Injustice was done to Kavita.

But the BRS opponents dismissed the affairs of that party as “drama”. BJP Telangana state president, N Ramchander Rao used her allegations to target the former CM and his party an said, “K Kavitha’s allegations against her cousins revealed how corruption was done by the BRS government. This has exposed the corruption in several projects during the BRS rule. The dispute arose among the family members only at the time of distributing the ill-gotten wealth…This is very important for the people of Telangana to know how Telangana was looted during the BRS rule.”

Mahesh Kumar Goud, president of Telangana Congress unit said “Kavitha’s suspension from BRSis a pre-planned drama, her comments are a part of it. Altogether, KCR’s family has looted the properties of the public.”

On Monday, Kavita alleged that former ministers Harish and Santosh indulged in corruption in Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation project, which now was being investigated by the CBI.

“It was Harish Rao and Santosh Rao who handled key aspects of the project. They accumulated huge assets blinding KCR. They are the anacondas of corruption,” she had reportedly alleged.

Following her allegations, the Telangana government has decided to order a CBI probe. But the state government has already set up a judicial commission to probe the alleged irregularities.
