India’s tennis star Yuki Bhambri had an impressive run in the US Open 2025 as he reached the semis, but it was cut short after a defeat as Bhambri and his partner Michael Venus were knocked out the men’s doubles event. The Indo-Kiwi duo fought a tough battle but eventually lost as they went down 7-6 (7-2), 6-7 (5-7), 4-6 against Britain’s Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski at the Louis Armstrong Stadium in New York.
The match opened with both teams locked in for a tight contest as they traded powerful serves and baseline rallies. Even though Bhambri and Venus took a lead, they couldn’t keep up and the Britain duo levlled the score at 5-5.
In the second set, the Indo-Kiwi duo came close to a second break in the fifth game but narrowly missed the chance. But in the sixth game, the British pair took the lead leaving both Bhambri and Venus in pressure. Sailsbury and Skupski edged ahead and clinched the tie break 7-5.
In the final set, Sailsbury and Skupski broke Bhambri and Venus’ momentum and they served out of the rest of the set. The won by 6-4 to make it to the final. With this defeat, Bhambri and Venus are now out of the tournament but with a lot of positives. As they displayed incredible team work and grit against the world’s best players.
