Hong Kong Open: PV Sindhu Suffers Shocking Exit After Defeat Against Line Christophersen In 1st Round
India’s star shuttler PV Sindhu faced a shocking exit at the Hong Kong Open 2025 as she was knocked out in the first round of women’s singles event. Sindhu started on a strong note and clinched the opening set 21-15 against Denmark’s Line Christophersen. But the Danish player made a stunning comeback and turned the match around as she clinched the next two games 21-16 and 21-19.
Sindhu’s defeat was an absolute shock for fans as she had a dominant record against Christophersen before this match. The Indian star previously defeated Line Christophersen in straight sets at both All England Open and World Tour Final. This time, the Danish player came to play with a new strategy and outplayed the Sindhu to clinch the final two sets.
Even though Sindhu’s campaign came to end abrupt end, but the shuttlers kept the country’s hopes alive in the tournament. Lakshya Sen, HS Prannoy and Kiran George have qualified for round of 16 in men’s singles. The top Indian men’s doubles pair, Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, advanced to the next-round after registering a dashing win in the first round.
After this forgetful defeat, PV Sindhu will now aim to make a comeback in the upcoming China Masters, which is a prestigious BWF Super 750 event.
