If you’ve been planning to buy a new Mahindra XUV700 around Diwali, now could be a good time. The SUV maker has announced a massive price cut on the XUV700, passing on the GST rate cut benefits to customers before the new rates take effect on September 22. Mahindra has also shared variant-wise savings on its popular models.

The tax rate on large SUVs has dropped from 48% to 40%, leading to savings between Rs 88,900 and Rs 1.43 lakh, depending on the variant. The XUV700 falls under the SUV category, with the new GST rates applying to vehicles over 4 metres in length and with an engine capacity above 1,500 cc.

Until now, these vehicles were taxed at 28% GST plus a 20% cess, making the total 48%. With the new rules, the tax has been simplified to a flat 40%.

Price drop on other Mahindra vehicles

Mahindra has announced price cuts on several other models, including the Bolero, Bolero Neo, XUV3XO, Thar Roxx, Thar, Scorpio Classic, and Scorpio-N. Here is the list:

Bolero and Bolero Neo: Up to Rs 1.27 lakh

XUV3XO: Rs 1.4 lakh (petrol); Rs 1.4 lakh (diesel)

Thar: Rs 1.35 lakh (2WD diesel); Rs 1.01 lakh (4WD diesel)

Thar Roxx: Rs 1.33 lakh

Scorpio Classic: Rs 1.01 lakh

Scorpio-N: Rs 1.45 lakh
