52-Year-Old Neelam and 32-Year-Old Pappu: Uttar Pradesh’s Kheda Jalalpur village in Badaun witnessed an unusual love story, where 52-year-old Neelam left her nine children and labourer husband Ompal to elope with 53-year-old Pappu. While leaving, she took her 10-year-old daughter Anjali also along with her. The incident has shocked the villagers and both families.

The Story

Ompal and Neelam had been married for 32 years. Ompal works as a labourer in Delhi, leaving his family behind in the village. They have nine children: the eldest son, Kaushal (30); the second son, Neeraj (28), who committed suicide last year; Preeti (25); Gaurav (22); Shivani (19) and others are minors. Three daughters and one son are married and have children. Ompal had bought 3.5 bighas of land in Neelam’s name, currently valued at Rs 15–18 lakh. In addition, Neelam took with her jewellery worth around Rs 4 lakh, Rs 50,000 in cash, and the land papers.

On June 22, 2025, Neelam suddenly left the house, telling her children that she was going to drown herself in the Ganges. Her younger daughter informed her father about this over the phone. Ompal immediately returned from Delhi and began searching for his wife. When he found no trace of her, he filed a missing person report. Police investigations later revealed that Neelam was hiding with her lover, Pappu, in Kyompur, under the Bahedia police station in Kasganj district. The police recovered her on August 30–31 and handed her over to Ompal. At that time, Neelam promised not to repeat such actions.

Second Absconding and FIR

However, on September 2, Neelam once again left with Pappu, this time taking her daughter Anjali with her. Following Ompal’s complaint, the police registered a case against Pappu and his brother Virendra under Section 87 BNS. Neelam returned to the police station on September 10. The police produced her in court under Section 183-BNSS and recorded her statement.
