There was tension, there was hype but there was little contest. India marched to yet another comprehensive win over Pakistan, chasing down a modest 128 with 7 wickets in hand in the Asia Cup 2025 clash at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The much-anticipated encounter ended not with a bang, but with a sense of inevitability.
India notch up an effortless win ✌️
The 🇮🇳 contingent offered little to nothing with ball & bat, dominating all three facets of the game to record a thumping win over their arch rivals.#INDvPAK #DPWorldAsiaCup2025 #ACC pic.twitter.com/LUWFZAJ0tm

No Handshakes, No Surprises
From the very beginning, there was an edge in the air. The players walked off at the end without any post-match handshakes – a rare but telling gesture that summed up the mood. But once the cricket began, it was all India.
Abhishek Sets the Tone Early
India’s intent was loud and clear from the first ball of the chase. Abhishek Sharma, fearless and unfazed, charged at Shaheen Afridi and dispatched the opening delivery straight down the ground for four. That shot didn’t just open the scoreboard – it set the tone for the entire chase.
Even though India lost three wickets – all falling to a spirited spell from Saim Ayub, who was Pakistan’s lone bright spark – the chase never looked in doubt. The pitch offered little resistance, and India’s top order was more than happy to capitalize.
Pakistan’s Spin Struggles Continue
The contrast in bowling quality was stark. While India’s spinners – Varun Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel had earlier strangled the life out of Pakistan’s innings, the trio of Abrar Ahmed, Sufiyan Muqeem, and Mohammad Nawaz failed to make any real impact.
There was no real turn, no deception, and no scoreboard pressure to work with. India’s batters negotiated them with ease, rotating strike and dispatching the occasional bad ball to the fence.
A Clear Gulf in Class
If there was one takeaway from this match, it’s the growing gulf between the two sides in T20 cricket. India, even without some of their former stalwarts, looked more organized, more assured, and far more dangerous. Pakistan, in contrast, looked out of ideas after the first few overs.
The decision to bat first – already questioned given Dubai’s chasing-friendly conditions – only made matters worse for Pakistan. From the toss to the final handshake (or lack thereof), India had control over every moment.
Looking Ahead
With this win, India continues to tighten its grip over this storied rivalry in the shortest format, especially in Asia Cup clashes. For Pakistan, it’s back to the drawing board. Questions will be asked about team selection, batting depth, and whether the old vulnerabilities are creeping back in.
As for India, under the confident leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, this campaign is shaping up to be one of dominance, flair, and a statement of intent to the rest of Asia and beyond.
