Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday thanked US President Donald Trump for calling and wishing him on his 75th birthday. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Modi called Trump a “friend” and said both leaders are committed to taking the India–US partnership to new heights. Notably, this was the first call between the two world leaders since June 17.
“Thank you, my friend, President Trump, for your phone call and warm greetings on my 75th birthday. Like you, I am also fully committed to taking the India-US Comprehensive and Global Partnership to new heights,” PM Modi wrote.
Endorsing Trump’s diplomatic initiatives, PM Modi added: “We support your initiatives towards a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict.”

PM Modi on Tuesday received a phone call from US President Donald Trump. The US President greeted the Prime Minister on his 75th birthday, which falls on September 17.
President Trump wrote on Truth Social: “Just had a wonderful phone call with my friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I wished him a very Happy Birthday! He is doing a tremendous job. Narendra: Thank you for your support on ending the War between Russia and Ukraine! President DJT”

Earlier this week, both countries signalled they were ready to push ahead with the long-delayed trade deal. On Truth Social, Donald Trump said he was “pleased” that talks to resolve trade barriers were continuing. Calling PM Modi a “very good friend,” he added that he looked forward to speaking with him in the coming weeks and was confident of a “successful conclusion for both of our Great Countries.”
Welcoming Trump’s remarks and stressing India’s commitment to a swift agreement, PM Modi wrote on X: “India and the US are close friends and natural partners. I am confident that our trade negotiations will pave the way for unlocking the limitless potential of the India-US partnership. Our teams are working to conclude these discussions at the earliest”.
