Karnataka SBI heist – Robbers in military uniform loot Gold worth Rs 20 crore, tie up staff and customers News24 –


Bengaluru: A shocking incident of robbery has emerged in Karnataka, where three armed masked men, dressed in military uniforms, looted Rs 1 crore cash and gold worth Rs 20 crore from SBI’s Chadachan town branch. According to reports, the gang stormed into the State Bank of India on Tuesday evening, carrying weapons and guns, and held the staff hostage before fleeing.

Bank Staff, Employees Tied Up

The accused reportedly tied up the bank manager and other staff and locked them up inside the washroom. The hands and feet of the customers were also tied up with plastic bags. The robbers entered the bank under the pretext of opening a current account and threatened the manager to open the cash vault. “Take out the cash, otherwise I will kill you,” NDTV quoted one of the robbers as saying to the branch manager.

Robbers Used A Van With Fake Number Plate

Vijayapura SP Laxman Nimbargi rushed to the spot following the incident. Preliminary investigations revealed that the armed men used a Suzuki EVA vehicle with a fake number plate to commit the offence. After the loot, they fled towards Maharashtra’s Pandharpur with jewellery and cash. Efforts are underway to track the accused.
