Chamoli cloudburst- A cloudburst hit the Nandanagar area of Chamoli district in Uttarakhand on Wednesday night, leaving seven people missing and six houses buried under debris. Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari stated that significant damage has been caused in the area and that rescue operations are underway. Two people have been rescued successfully, while the search for others continues. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that he is in contact with the administration and monitoring the situation.

“Heavy rainfall in the Nandan Nagar Ghat area of Chamoli district has caused damage to nearby houses. Local administration, SDRF, and police teams have reached the spot immediately and are engaged in relief and rescue operations. I am in constant contact with the administration and monitoring the situation,” he wrote on X.

DM Sandeep Tiwari, told ANI, “A cloudburst caused damage in the Nandanagar Ghat area of ​​Chamoli district on Wednesday night. Six houses were buried under debris in the Kuntri Langafali ward of Nandanagar. The District Magistrate said seven people are missing, while two have been rescued. Relief and rescue operations are underway.”

Cloudburst in Dehradun

Earlier on Monday, a massive cloudburst in Dehradun’s Sahastradhara had caused large-scale damage. Two to three major hotels and several shops in the main market were damaged due to debris falling after the cloudburst. The incident was reported from the Karliguard area of Sahastradhara in Uttarakhand, a famous tourist spot in Dehradun. Many shops were swept away by the strong current in the area, and several people were reported to be missing.

Rivers like Sahastradhara, Chandrabhaga in Rishikesh, and Song in Tapovan have swollen dangerously, flooding roads and low-lying settlements. Visuals showed massive destruction, commuters stranded, Tapkeshwar Mahadev temple inundated, and areas flooded.
