India has found a new rising javelin star, Sachin Yadav who delivered a stunning performance at the World Athletics Championships 2025 in Tokyo on Thursday. Even though all the spotlight was largely on the much-anticipated India-Pakistan rivalry of Neeraj Chopra and Arshad Nadeem.

Sachin came in the game and conquered, despite not getting a podium finish he gained the fourth spot leaving behind India’s golden boy Neeraj Chopra. The 25-year old youngster launched a spectacular throw of 86.27m on his very attempt which turned out to be his personal best also.

Born on October 25, 1999 in Khekra, Uttar Pradesh, Sachin initially dreamt of becoming a fast bowler and wanted to play cricket. But at the age of 19 he switched to javelin throw. He has an incredible height of 6 feet and 5 inches which was an added advantage in the sport – he also draws inspiration from his sporting idols – Jasprit Bumrah and MS Dhoni.

He clinched silver at the Asian Championships and took home a gold medal at the 38th National Games in Dehradun with a record throw of 84.39m. He also took part in the Neeraj Chopra Classic but he remained short of a podium finish as he came fourth with a throw of 82.33m.

Neeraj Chopra could not take a podium finish and came at 8th position after which it was also reported that Chopra had been going through some back issues. But after Sachin Yadav secured the fourth position, Neeraj praised him and said “I am very happy for Sachin. I was hoping India would win a medal, but it didn’t happen. Sachin performed extremely well. On such a big platform, he delivered brilliantly. I am very happy and confident that our javelin is in safe hands,”
