The Saket Court on Friday granted the Delhi police a further two-day remand of businessman Samir K Modi. The court directed the police to inquire about the complaint filed by the accused, Samir Modi. The hearing was conducted in a closed courtroom. Modi was detained at the Indira Gandhi International Airport pursuant to a Look Out Circular (LOC) issued by New Friends Colony Police Station and was later arrested on charges of rape. The FIR was registered on September 10, 2025, based on a complaint by a woman who claimed to have been in a relationship with Modi since 2019.
Who is Samir Modi?
Founder and Managing Director of Modicare, Samir K Modi, comes from Modi business family. Born on 15 December, 1969, he is the youngest son of late industrialist KK Modi and brother of former IPL Chairman Lalit Modi. He completed his schooling from The Doon School in Dehradun and graduated from Delhi University’s Hindu college. He also has a management degree from Harvard Business School.
Modi began his career in 1992 as a management trainee with Philip Morris in the United States. There he worked on promoting Marlboro cigarettes. After gaining some industry experience, he launched Modicare in 1996 at the age of 25. He is also an executive director of Godfrey Phillips India and a director of Indofil Industries Ltd. He participated in launching various initiatives for the Modi Group, including Modicare, Colorbar Cosmetics in 2004 and Twenty Four Seven convenience stores in 2005. 24Seven Convenience Stores, which is considered Modi’s brainchild has now over 90 stores in Delhi-NCR and Chandigarh.
