40 Minor Girls Found Locked in Toilet at Madrassa During Inspection News24 –

The Bahraich district administration conducted an inspection of an unregistered madrassa and found forty girls aged between 9 and 14 locked inside a toilet.

According to PTI, Ashwani Kumar Pandey, SDM Payagpur, said they had been receiving complaints about the functioning of an illegal madrassa in the area. The madrassa was being run inside a three-storey building in Pahalwara village.

“On Wednesday, when we went to the building for an inspection, the madrassa operators initially tried to stop us from going upstairs. In the presence of police, we entered the premises and found the toilet on the terrace locked,” PTI quoted Pandey as saying.

The SDM said that the girls started coming out when the door was opened. He added that they were not in a condition to speak.

As per the District Minority Welfare Officer, the locals said that the madrassa had been running for the last three years without registration.
