Five workers lost their lives and multiple others were injured due to the collapse of a structure at a private steel plant in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, on Friday, according to police.

“Soon after being alerted about it, a police team was sent to the spot, and a rescue operation was launched. As per preliminary information, five workers were killed and five others sustained injuries,” he said.

Labourers injured in the incident were taken to hospital, and the rescue operation is ongoing as many others may still be trapped, the officer added.
