Bihar Election 2025: The Election Commission has announced the polling dates for the Bihar elections. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar said that the polling will be held in two phases on November 6th and 11th. Counting will be held on November 14. 121 constituencies will go to the polls in the first phase, which will be held on November 6th. In the second phase, 122 constituencies will poll on November 11th.
The elections will have Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s NDA government competing against the RJD and Congress alliance. In the last election, RJD won the most seats with 75, but BJP and JD(U) together had 117 seats. This time, a new party, Jan Suraaj led by Prashant Kishor, is also expected to contest.

The 243 assembly constituencies will go to the polls in (to be announced) phases. The announcement came after a two-day review by the Commission, during which they met political parties and law enforcement agencies to ensure free and fair elections. The term of the 243-member state Assembly will end on November 22, 2025.

What NDA and other parties requested to ECI
The ruling NDA demanded a single phase of voting. The Opposition has called for two phases. However, on the potential poll dates, NDA and the opposition had the same request, pressing for the polls to be held soon after the Chhath festival that begins on October 25. Additionally, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar on Sunday confirmed that elections will be conducted before November 22.
