4 States, 4 mega railway projects


The Cabinet committee, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Monday approved four major railway projects worth Rs 24,634 crore. The approved projects are estimated to be completed by 2030-31. The four multi-tracking projects will cover 18 districts across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Chhattisgarh. It aims to enhance connectivity to approximately 3,633 villages. Additionally, the projects would increase Indian Railways’ existing network by about 894 Km.

List Of Four Approved Railway Projects

  • Wardha – Bhusawal (Maharashtra): Third and fourth lane (314 km)
  • Gondia – Dongargarh (Maharashtra & Chhattisgarh): Fourth line (84 km)
  • Vadodara – Ratlam (Gujarat & Madhya Pradesh): Third and fourth lane (259 Km)
  • Itarsi – Bhopal – Bina (Madhya Pradesh): Fourth lane (237 kms)

The project section will also connect to these prominent destinations: Sanchi, Satpura Tiger Reserve, Rock shelter of Bhimbetka, Hazara falls, Nawegaon National Park, etc. This is an essential route for the transportation of commodities such as coal, containers, cement, fly ash, food grain, steel, etc.

12,000 Special Trains For Diwali And Chhath

Amid the festive rush ahead of Diwali and Chhath Puja, Indian Railways unveiled its plan to operate 12,000 special trains in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the deployment of 150 unreserved trains would address the last-minute rush during the festive season.
