Varun Chakaravarthy reacts on exclusion from India’s ODI squad, says ‘I expect to be…’ News24 –

India’s mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy has chosen not to dwell on his exclusion from India’s ODI squad for India vs Australia three-match series. He played a significant role in India’s title-winning campaign but still he has been left out.

India has opted to move forward with three spinners for the tour – Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar under the leadership of newly appointed Shubman Gill who replaced Rohit Sharma.

Reacting to his exclusion, Varun remained calm and mature saying he respects the selectors’ decision and he has understood the team strategy for the tour. He further added that his focus remains on performing consistently whenever he gets the opportunity.

“Brother, I expect to be in every team but it’s up to the selectors to think what they are thinking. Maybe the pitches there (in Australia) offer less chance. If you see in the Champions Trophy also I was brought in as a replacement for Yashasvi Jaiswal,” Varun Chakaravarthy said

“So it just depends on the conditions. I can feel anything but what the pitches demand is totally another thing,” he said

Varun Chakaravarthy was a part of India’s T20I squad in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2025 which India won defeating Pakistan in the final. The Men in Blue remained unbeaten throughout the tournament and performed exceptionally well.
