As Google Doodle celebrates Idli, a popular breakfast delight; Here are mouth-watering varieties you must try News24 –
Google Doodle celebrates Idli: Google has put the spotlight on Idli today (October 11), one of the popular South Indian delicacies and favourite breakfasts. Made from a fermented batter of rice and urad dal (black gram), idli is a healthy and comforting steamed cake enjoyed across India. As a staple breakfast, idli not only delights the taste buds but also carries rich cultural and culinary traditions that have been passed down through generations. Today’s Google Doodle celebrating Idli is a tribute and not linked to any festival or anniversary, as the World Idli Day is usually celebrated on March 30.
As you open the Google browser and click on the Doodle, a small note appears with the text: “Celebrating Idli: Today’s Doodle celebrates idli, a savoury, steamed South Indian cake made from a fermented batter of rice and urad dal.”
And if you carefully observe the picture, each letter in the word “Google” represents a different element of the idli. The first letter, “G,” features white granular grains, likely rice, which is the main ingredient of idlis. The first “O” displays a bowl containing a white substance, while the second “O” shows idli batter being steamed in a traditional idli maker. The next “G” is formed by several idlis arranged together. The letter “L” is created using various chutneys, and the final letter “E” depicts a side dish commonly served with idlis. The entire design is presented on a banana leaf, adding a traditional touch.
