Ranchi Restaurant Owner Shot Dead After Serving Non-Vegetarian Biryani to Veg Customer News24 –


In a shocking incident, a 47-year-old Ranchi restaurant owner was shot dead after a veg customer was allegedly served non-vegetarian food to him in Jharkhand’s Ranchi.

According to PTI, the incident took place at 11:30 am on October 18 on Kanke-Pithoria Road. A customer had ordered a vegetarian biryani from the hotel and left it for takeaway, police said.

Later, the customer returned with his aides, complaining that he had been served non-vegetarian food instead of what he had ordered.

The restaurant owner, identified as Vijay Kumar Nag, was having his meal when the men opened fire on him. He sustained a bullet wound to his chest and succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the hospital for treatment.

Vijay was a native of Bhittha, under the jurisdiction of Kanke police station.

A senior police officer said the body was sent for postmortem at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS). Police have launched a manhunt to trace the accused in the case.

In a separate incident, Haryana Police constable Deepak died in a tragic accident in Panchkula around 11 pm on Saturday night, while on duty. Constable Deepak was posted at the drink and drive checkpoint near the Chandi Mandir toll plaza when a speeding truck broke through a barricade and crushed him, while the driver fled the scene.

However, the accused truck driver was arrested near ITBP Bhanu as police quickly took charge of the situation. He has been subjected to a drug test.

A case has been registered against him under Section 105 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further investigation is underway.

Constable Deepak was posted at the Surjanpur Traffic Police Station in Panchkula and was performing his duties with utmost devotion and dedication. The Haryana Police family has expressed profound grief over this incident. He was a resident of Jind district. His family consists of his parents, wife, and two children. His son is 10 months old, and his daughter is 6 years old. Late Deepak’s last rites will be performed with full state honours today in his native village, Pillukheda, Jind district, official release said.
