Odisha on High Alert Ahead of Cyclone Over Bay of Bengal – IMD Forecasts Heavy Rain; When Will It Hit? Latest Updates Here! News24 –
Odisha Cyclone alert: The Odisha government has put all districts and departments on high alert because a cyclonic storm is expected over the Bay of Bengal by Monday. State Minister Suresh Pujari said that enough relief materials are ready, and all district collectors are on alert.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that a low-pressure area over the Southwest Bay of Bengal is moving west-north-west. It may become a depression over the southeast and central Bay of Bengal today, a deep depression tomorrow, and a cyclonic storm over the southwest and west-central Bay of Bengal by Monday.
Rain forecast and yellow alert in Odisha
The IMD has also alerted that Odisha districts will see heavy to very heavy rainfall for at least three days from Monday. A yellow alert has been issued in 17 districts. The latest bulletin from the IMD for Saturday reads: “Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Nawarangpur”

When will the Cyclone hit Odisha?
The IMD said that a low-pressure area formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal on October 24. It is likely to become a depression by October 25 and strengthen into a cyclonic storm by October 27. The storm is expected to move toward the west-central Bay of Bengal.
