Delhi AQI Today: Air Quality Plunges to ‘Very Poor’ After Slight Improvement


Delhi AQI Today, October 26, 2025: Delhi continues to breathe ‘toxic’ air on Sunday as the Air Quality Index was recorded at 324 under ‘poor’ quality at 9 am. In view of the deteriorating pollution levels, the government plans to carry out artificial rain next week. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the capital will receive Light Rain or Drizzle on October 27 and 28. There is a possibility that the city will experience its first artificial rain on October 29.

The deteriorating air quality has raised concerns among residents and authorities, as most areas in Delhi were registered to be in the red zone. India Gate registered a concerning AQI of 325 this morning, while the air quality plummeted to 287 under the ‘poor’ category around Lodhi Road, as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Low visibility and a heavy blanket of smog led to significant disruptions during the early hours. The Air Quality Index (AQI) around Ashram, Maharani Bagh, was also recorded in the ‘Very Poor’ category.

To combat air pollution, the Rekha Gupta-led Delhi government has deployed water sprinklers in several areas of the capital. An artificial rain test was also conducted in Burari on Thursday. 

AQI In Other Places In Delhi

AQI plunged to 455 under the ‘severe’ category in Jahangirpuri, while Chandni Chowk recorded an air quality index of 272 at 9 am on October 26. The other areas include Rohini (462), Wazirpur (304), Bawana (425), Vivek Vihar (379), Ashok Vihar (279), Sonia Vihar (341), Patparganj (208), Nehru Nagar (225), Siri Fort (235), Okhla Phase 2 (203), Lodhi Road 2 (189), Najafgarh (161), and Sri Aurobindo Marg (158).

Delhi AQI: Check Forecast For Next Two Days

The decline in the air purity will continue, according to the Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi. The air quality is very likely to be in the ‘very poor’ category until October 27, 2025. Thereafter, the air quality will shift to the ‘poor’ category on October 28. The outlook for the subsequent 6 Days shows a poor to very poor category.

Air Quality In Ghaziabad, Noida And Gurugram

The neighboring cities also recorded high AQI levels. Ghaziabad records a ‘very poor’ AQI of 33, while Noida and Gurugram register AQIs of 249 and 192.
