Several affluent and wealthy candidates of political parties are in the poll fray this year in the Bihar Assembly elections. These candidates own assets worth crores and are contesting the elections with their full might. On the other hand, a few candidates do not have a home, land, or enough money to contest the election.
Mahagathbandhan has fielded Quyamuddin Ansari
The Mahagathbandhan has fielded a candidate who has only Rs 37,000 in his bank account, and it is the only asset he owns. The CPI(ML) Liberation has fielded Quyamuddin Ansari from the Arrah Assembly seat, and he is the ‘poorest’ candidate.
Kayamuddin’s wife owns assets worth Rs 5 lakh
According to his affidavit, Ansari declared that he has Rs 20,000 in cash and Rs 17,000 deposited in two bank accounts. Besides this, he has no movable or immovable assets. However, Quyamuddin’s wife owns assets worth Rs 5 lakh, which include gold worth Rs 3 lakh and silver and other ornaments worth Rs 1 lakh.
Quyamuddin had contested assembly polls in 2020
Quyamuddin claims that although he does not have much money, he has the full support of the people and will defeat the might of money and power in the elections. He had previously contested from the same Assembly seat in 2020 but lost the election to BJP’s Amrendra Pratap Singh by 3,000 votes. Now, the party has once again shown confidence in him and fielded him against BJP’s Sanjay Singh Tiger.
