Cyclone Montha Weakens Over Coastal Andhra; IMD Warns of Heavy Rain in East and Central India News24 –


Cyclone Montha made landfall on Tuesday around 7 pm as a ‘severe cyclonic storm’. Hours later, it gradually weakened over coastal Andhra Pradesh. The India Meteorological Department said that the cyclonic storm is likely to maintain its intensity as a cyclonic storm during the next 6 hours, and weaken further into a deep depression. The latest observations indicate that it is expected to move nearly northeastwards across the East Central Arabian Sea during the next 36 hours.

Cyclone Montha Weather Forecast

Odisha: A red alert has been issued in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapathi, and Ganjam districts. Most of the other districts are on yellow alert.

Telangana: A red alert has been sounded over Mulugu, Khammam, and B Kothagudem. An orange alert for heavy rain has also been issued for Hanamkonda, Nalgonda, Mancherial, Peddapalle, and Suryapet districts.

Andhra Pradesh: Most parts of the state are on red and orange alert. Heavy rain is expected in the following areas: Prakasam, Nellore, Guntur, Elluru, Tirupathi, East Godavari, and Krishna.

East And Central India Weather Forecast

IMD has forecast torrential downpour over West and East Madhya Pradesh until October 30, 2025. The other affected regions likely to witness heavy rain are Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh on October 29 and 30; Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha till the 31st; Jharkhand on 29th and 31st; Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim on Oct 30 and November 1.

Rain To Lash Maharashtra, Gujarat

Madhya Maharashtra will witness heavy rainfall on October 29, and the Gujarat Region is likely to receive rain until October 31. Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) is expected over the region during the next 5 days.
