After the Pahalgam attack, India has become more vigilant along the borders shared with Pakistan and China. India has strongly warned Pakistan that any ceasefire violation or act of aggression along the border will be treated as an act of war and will be met with an immediate response. Keeping the word the Indian defence forces are in full swing along the borders. How is India strengthening its military power along the borders? How is it ensuring border security while instilling fear in its enemy nations?

Trishul, Sentinel strike, Astra Shakti – Three Military Exercises

Three military exercises are underway: Trishul (Pakistan border, 20,000 soldiers), Astra Shakti (Ladakh, drones and artillery), and Sentinel Strike (Rajasthan, night operations).

Trishul

Largest exercise involving the Army, Navy, and Air Force. It began on October 30, 2025 and is taking place in Kutch, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. More than 20,000 soldiers are participating. The focus is on the Sir Creek area, near the Pakistan border. Trishul also involves special forces commandos, missile batteries, warships, battle tanks, and attack aircraft, including the Rafale and the Sukhoi Su-30.

The exercise contains T-90 battle tanks and BrahMos missile units, as well as Akash missile defence system units that successfully neutralised Pakistan’s projectile barrage during Sindoor.

‘New Normal’ Policy

Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh of the Indian Army’s Southwestern Command has clearly warned that any terrorist attack on India will now be considered war. He stated that under the “New Normal” policy, any such incident would face an immediate and strong response. This warning follows the policy introduced after the 2025 Pahalgam attack. The Army is currently conducting three major exercises to showcase its preparedness to tackle threats from Pakistan and China.
