Exercise Trishul: India is conducting a major military exercise, exercise Trishul, a joint operation involving the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. This exercise is taking place along the western border with adjoins Pakistan. In view of this, Pakistan has reportedly closed its airspace and issued a maritime alert.
Exercise Trishul is a Tri-Services Synergy Enabling Integrated Operations, aimed at synergy and enabling integrated operations. Its motto in Sanskrit is Trishulam Samanvayasya Balam, meaning the trident symbolises the power of unity. Trishul signifies strength in unity. The exercise exemplifies India’s resolve to safeguard its borders through the spirit of JAI, which stands for Jointness, Atmanirbharta, and Innovation. The main goal of the Trishul exercise is to enhance coordination, communication, and mission readiness among the three forces.
About Exercise Trishul
Briefing the media in Delhi on October 31, Director General Naval Operations Vice Admiral AN Pramod said that the exercise will be conducted till November 13. Indian Army’s southern command, the Indian Navy’s western command, the Air Force’s South-Western Air Command, and the Coast Guard, BSF and other central agencies are participating in the mega exercise.
Vice Admiral Pramod stated that the Navy is participating with 20-25 Naval Warships and the Air Force with 40 fighter jets. The exercise aims to enhance the synergy between all the maritime forces as well as the inter-services.
“We are conducting a tri-service exercise on the Gujarat coast and in the northern Arabian Sea. All three services-Army, Navy, Air Force-as well as the Coast Guard, BSF, and central agencies, are participating in large numbers. You’ll find the Army’s Southern Command, the Navy’s Western Command, and the Air Force’s South Western Air Command participating. Our main objective is to enhance synergy between all maritime forces. It is a very large complex environment, and this is a multi-domain integrated operation which we are conducting… 20-25 Navy ships are participating. Over 40 Air Force fighter and support aircraft are participating,” stated Vice Admiral Pramod.
The exercise is being conducted in the Western sector, across the states of Gujarat and Rajasthan. These areas share a long and strategically important border with Pakistan, making them ideal for testing combat readiness and border defence operations.

Exercise Trishul: Phases of the drill
The exercise is taking place in three phases, each led by a different service. The Indian Navy is leading the first phase, followed by the Indian Army and final phase being led by the Indian Air Force. Over 20,000 troops are participating in Trishul exercise, supported by: T-90S and Arjun tanks, attack helicopters and missile systems, Rafale and Sukhoi-30MKI fighter jets, a fleet of frigates and destroyers from the Navy.
Pakistan’s Response
During Exercise Trishul, India has reserved its airspace, restricting flights in certain areas. While, in response, Pakistan has issued its second NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) in five days, valid from November 1 to November 30, 2025, closing its central and southern airspace. The reasons cited were naval drills and missile tests. Amid heightened regional military activity, intelligence sources describe Pakistan’s move as a signal of “panic and precaution”, triggered by India’s ongoing Tri-Services Exercise Trishul 2025. According to a report by News18, Pakistan’s defence establishment has reportedly placed all its forces on red alert until November 30, ensuring air safety, naval vigilance, and overall national security.
