Zohran Mamdani’s net worth
Zohran Mamdani was born in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, in 1991. According to various news reports, most of Mamdani’s declared assets come from Uganda. In financial disclosures filed last year, he listed four acres of land in Jinja, an area on the banks of Lake Victoria, not far from the source of the Nile River. He valued the land between $150,000 and $250,000. It’s also unclear whether the land was bought, gifted, or inherited.
In his 2024 filings, Mamdani also reported owning between $5,000 and $55,000 in stock in a company called MiTec, a Kickstarter for social enterprise ventures. The company dissolved at the end of that year, and he received half of his initial $10,000 investment back, according to his campaign spokeswoman.
No Car..No Mansion..
In New York, Mamdani lives a simple life. He does not have a luxury house. Forbes says he lives in a rent-controlled apartment in Astoria that costs about $2,250 a month (around Rs 2 lakh). He does not own a car. He takes the subway to work and events and often carries his own bag.
As a state assemblyman, he earns $142,000 a year, which is a good income. In 2024, he also earned $1,000 from his short rap career as Mr Cardamom. He got married earlier this year to a Syrian-born artist. Since the financial disclosure deadline was before their wedding, any shared assets will probably show up next year.
