Virat Kohli celebrates his 37th birthday today, and the cricket superstar continues to amaze fans with his unmatched fitness and youthful energy. His commitment to a disciplined workout regime and a clean, balanced diet has helped him stay at the top of his game for more than a decade. In a past interview, Kohli revealed that fitness wasn’t always his priority. However, after 2012, he realized the importance of maintaining his body and performance, leading to a complete lifestyle transformation. Since then, he has followed a strict and consistent fitness routine, managing to maintain his ideal weight and physical form right through 2025.
Combining intense gym sessions, cardio workouts, and mindful eating, Kohli’s fitness philosophy has become an inspiration for athletes and fans alike. Here’s an inside look at the habits and dedication that keep Virat Kohli fit, strong, and seemingly ageless at 37.
Here’s what Virat Kohli said about his fitness journey
“When you begin your fitness journey, you experiment with everything, vitamins, extra hydration, proteins, until you figure out what truly works for you. That’s when you find the right balance,” Virat shared this during an interview with Star Sports.
He further said that diet is more important than how many hours you spend in the gym. “The biggest challenge I’ve faced with fitness is food. You can push yourself physically, but eating right is a mental game. Your taste buds and cravings can either help or hinder your progress,” he said.
Kohli’s diet secret revealed
Virat further told that, “I can eat the same meals three times a day for six months without any issues.” “Around 90% of my food is steamed or boiled, with just salt, pepper, and lime. I’m not someone who chases taste, I focus on what’s right for my body. I enjoy salads with a little dressing and pan-grilled dishes with some olive oil. I avoid curries, but I do eat dal, and as a Punjabi, I can’t skip rajma and lobhiya.”
In 2018, Virat Kohli went through a health issue when he suffered from acidity and high uric acid levels. Doctors also told him that his bone calcium levels were low, which made him uncomfortable. That’s when Kohli decided to change his lifestyle, he stopped eating meat and turned vegetarian.
Since then, he has stayed away from fried foods, curries, and spicy dishes, choosing lighter and healthier meals instead. However, in an interview with Curly Tales, Virat Kohli mentioned that he is not completely vegan, as he still eats some dairy products.
This balanced and mindful approach to food has helped Kohli stay fit, active, and focused both on and off the field.
