Mumbai’s Musheer Khan was very emotional as he notched up his first century of the Ranji Trophy season just hours after passing of his maternal uncle who played a key role in his cricketing journey. The 20-year old batter played with remarkable composure and smashed a brilliant 112 runs in match against Himachal Pradesh at the Sharad Pawar Bandra-Kurla Complex, anchoring Mumbai’s innings under testing conditions.
Musheer Khan achieved this milestone in 143 deliveries and his reaction afterwards spoke volumes – a leap in air following which he removed his bat and he was seen to be very emotional.

Later, after the knock Musheer Khan revealed that his mother’s brother (his uncle) played a very important role in his life and shaping his cricket career and he passed away earlier that morning.
“First of all, this century has come after a long time. And the second thing is that my mother’s brother died this morning,” he said
“I became emotional after hitting 100. So I cried a little,” Musheer said, as quoted by the Indian Express
Musheer dedicated the innings to his uncle and this marked one of the most meaningful moments of his career.
