Dwarka Expressway Toll Charge: No more free travel on the Dwarka Expressway from next week! The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has finally started toll collection on the 30-km-long stretch at Bijwasan Plaza. The new rule mandates that all vehicles passing through the Delhi-Haryana border via this expressway will be charged a toll fee.

Cost Of One-Way Car Trip, Return Trip

The Bijwasan plaza will be directly connected to the Kherki Daula toll. Therefore, commuters going from Delhi to Gurugram will now pay a user fee at both plazas via FASTag. While a one-way car trip will now cost around Rs 220, a return trip will be Rs 330 (for people without a local monthly pass or a FASTag annual pass for their private vehicles).

Tolling Rule On Delhi Gurgaon Dwarka Expressway

Earlier on Tuesday, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways fixed the tolling formula for vehicles that will be charged a user fee on the Delhi Gurgaon Dwarka Expressway. Drivers must note that if their vehicle first passes through Bijwasan Plaza, they will have to pay the fee levied at that very point. This means no additional toll charge while crossing the Kherki Daula plaza along the same path. But if a vehicle crosses the latter first, it will be charged an applicable fee and a differential amount while crossing Bijwasan.

Overloaded Vehicles To Pay 10 Times The Normal Toll Amount

Overloaded vehicles will also be targeted. If a vehicle is caught carrying extra weight beyond the legally allowed limit, the driver will be charged a toll fee ten times the normal amount, according to reports. If private vehicles that commute regularly on these expressways opt for a monthly local pass or a FASTag annual pass, they will be spared from the new rates.

The new rate will, however, hit those taking a cab or taxi ride as the vehicle will be charged a full user fee, which would be transferred to the consumers. A monthly local pass will be provided only to those residing within a 20-km radius of a toll plaza. They must provide proof monthly at the respective plaza to avail this benefit.
