A student set himself ablaze after being denied permission to sit for an exam over unpaid fees in Budhana town of Muzaffarnagar district in Uttar Pradesh. The student succumbed to his injuries at Safdarjung Hospital in the national capital.
According to PTI, SSP Sanjay Kumar took action against a police sub-inspector and two constables and sent them to the police lines for negligence in their duty.
The victim was identified as Ujjawal Rana. He was a second-year BA student in Budhana. He sustained 70% burn injuries after setting himself ablaze.
Ujjawal’s sister lodged a complaint with the police against college manager Arvind Garg, principal Pradeep Kumar, teacher Sanjeev Kumar, and the three cops.
SSP Kumar said that teams have been formed to arrest the accused.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh minister Anil Kumar said he has directed district authorities to take appropriate action in the matter.
