New Delhi: The investigation into the Red Fort blast in Delhi has revealed that the attack was not an isolated act but part of a larger network linked to Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). Police have identified four doctors Dr. Umar Nabi, Dr. Shaheen Shahid, Dr. Adil Ahmad Rather, and Dr. Muzammil Shakil as the main accused who were directly or indirectly connected to the JeM network operating from Pakistan.
Red Fort Blast Horror: How ‘Four Doctors’ Connected To Pak’s JeM
According to reports, the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), a terrorist organisation based in Pakistan, played a central role in planning and funding the Red Fort blast. The group allegedly provided financial support, explosives, and logistical guidance to its operatives in India through encrypted communication and secret channels.
All four doctors were reportedly part of a local module created by JeM to expand its network in Delhi-NCR and northern India.
Dr. Umar Nabi: The Suicide Bomber Linked to JeM Handlers
Dr. Umar Nabi, a resident of Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, and an Assistant Professor at Al-Falah University, is believed to be the suicide bomber who carried out the blast. Investigators say Nabi was in direct touch with JeM handlers in Pakistan through encrypted chat applications.
Sources claim he received both money and instructions from JeM’s command centre across the border. After two of his associates were arrested in Faridabad with explosives, Nabi hurriedly executed the attack, fearing that the operation would be exposed.
Dr. Shaheen Shahid: Head of JeM’s Women’s Wing in India
Dr. Shaheen Shahid, also from Al-Falah University, was allegedly involved in setting up JeM’s women’s wing in India. Investigators found that Shahid had regular online communication with Sadia Azhar, a close relative of Masood Azhar, the chief of JeM in Pakistan.
A joint operation by Jammu & Kashmir Police and Faridabad Police led to the recovery of 360 kg of explosives and several weapons from a property linked to Shahid. This discovery further confirmed JeM’s financial and operational involvement in India.
Dr. Adil Ahmad Rather: The Key Contact with Pakistan’s ISI
Dr. Adil Ahmad Rather, a doctor from Anantnag, was the first to be arrested. He is accused of acting as a key coordinator between JeM operatives in India and Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Police found encrypted communication devices that showed Rather’s contact with handlers in Pakistan. He allegedly arranged logistics, routes, and funds for JeM’s operations in India. His interrogation led to crucial evidence that exposed other members of the module.
Dr. Muzammil Shakil: Organiser and Recruiter
Dr. Muzammil Shakil, a senior doctor at Al-Falah Medical College, is believed to have managed the recruitment and coordination of JeM sympathisers in India. Investigators found that he stayed in touch with Pakistan-based operatives through coded messages and digital channels.
He reportedly helped transfer funds and manage travel arrangements for recruits moving between Kashmir, Delhi, and western India.
Investigation Underway
The case continues to be investigated by the Delhi Police Special Cell and central intelligence agencies. Authorities are working to uncover the full extent of the JeM network operating in India and its direct links to Pakistan’s terror infrastructure.
