Ayodhya today stands on the global map as a prosperous, rapidly developing religious, cultural, and spiritual city. Much of this transformation is credited to the vision and determination of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Even before the construction of the Shri Ram Temple, CM Yogi had initiated a long-term plan to restore Ayodhya to its historic glory. The city now attracts a steady flow of domestic and international tourists, significantly boosting the local economy. Under his guidance, several development initiatives for Ramnagari have been designed and are being implemented in coordination with various departments.
Ayodhya Master Plan 2031
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has prepared a comprehensive master plan to equip Ayodhya with world-class facilities, directing all concerned departments to ensure strict and timely implementation. More than ₹1,000 crore has been allocated for urban planning to shape a detailed blueprint covering 133.67 square kilometers.
This master plan aims to develop Ayodhya as a modern, sustainable, and spiritually enriched city. Infrastructure is being upgraded to accommodate the rising tourist inflow. Around 24 crore tourists visited Ayodhya between January and June 2025, and the total footfall is expected to cross 50 crore by year-end. To meet this demand, major improvements are being made in roads, drainage, waste management, housing, and green spaces.
Ayodhya Greenfield Township
A smart and eco-friendly township is being built on 1,407 acres under the Ayodhya Greenfield Township project at a cost of ₹2,180 crore. Developed as part of the Vedic Expansion Plan, this township aims to manage future population growth and the increasing number of tourists in a balanced and sustainable manner.
Maharishi Valmiki International Airport
With tourist numbers rising every year and devotees coming from across the globe to visit Ram Lalla, Ayodhya required a modern airport. The state government constructed the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport at a cost of ₹1,450 crore. Operational since 2023, the airport features a 6,000 sq. m. terminal and a runway equipped to handle large aircraft, connecting Ayodhya to major national and international destinations.
Ayodhya Dham Junction Railway Station
The railway station has been redeveloped into a modern, three-storey facility offering amenities such as elevators, escalators, a food plaza, and waiting areas. This upgraded station now caters to millions of tourists with enhanced convenience and capacity.
Outer Ring Road
To address increasing traffic within Ayodhya, work is in progress on a 67.17 km, 4/6-lane Outer Ring Road at an estimated cost of ₹3,935 crore. Once completed, it will ease congestion, streamline city traffic, and improve connectivity to Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Sultanpur, Barabanki, Basti, and Gonda, along with providing smooth access to national highways.
Modernisation of Ram Ki Paidi
To enhance the spiritual experience of visitors, Ram Ki Paidi has been upgraded at a cost of about ₹24 crore. The redevelopment includes a 350-meter-long staircase, a grand viewing gallery with a capacity of 20,000 people, and a mini amphitheatre. A dedicated selfie point featuring impressive statues of Lord Ram has also been created for tourists.
Guptar Ghat Redevelopment
Under the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the once-neglected Guptar Ghat has been transformed into a beautiful and vibrant attraction. Redeveloped at an estimated ₹77 crore, it now features a nearly 1-kilometre embankment, an open-air theatre, landscaped parks, and modern water sports and boating facilities.
Hotels and Accommodation Facilities
Leading hotel chains are investing over ₹350 crore to expand accommodation options for the growing number of tourists. This investment will enhance visitor comfort while creating employment opportunities for local residents.
The Yogi government is committed to preserving Ayodhya’s cultural heritage. Key sites such as the Ram Katha Museum, the Tulsi Memorial Building, and the Parikrama Marg have been restored and improved. Additionally, multi-level parking facilities are being built in crowded areas to ensure hassle-free vehicle parking for visitors.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath remains fully dedicated to Ayodhya’s holistic development. In the coming years, Ayodhya is set to emerge as a global model for spiritual, cultural, and infrastructural transformation.
