Development of new colonies to gain momentum as Bhagwant Mann govt streamlines licensing process News24 –

The Bhagwant Mann government has taken a major step to encourage the real estate sector in Punjab. Minister for Housing Construction and Urban Development, S. Hardeep Singh Mundian, said that with an aim to boost the real estate sector, the state government has prepared a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to expedite the process of issuing licences for the development of colonies. He further said that the development authorities will issue licences for the development of colonies within 60 days from the date of receiving the application.

The minister said that the process has been divided into two phases of 30 days each. Mundian said it had been observed that the process of issuing licences was complex and time-consuming. Now, with the help of the SOP, it has been simplified and expedited.

The minister said that before the SOP, various development authorities often caused delays in issuing licences to promoters. Now, the Bhagwant Mann government has made the process swift through the SOP and ensured timely issuance of licences to promoters.

Mundian said that licences will be issued through the SOP within 60 days for the development of colonies and it has been ensured that the process is time-bound. Apart from this, the planning, accounts, licensing, and various departments — including PPCB, PSPCL, the Forest Department, and the Drainage Department — have also been given clear timelines to dispose of cases in a time-bound manner. Each employee of every department will have to follow the timeline, and if any employee causes unnecessary delay, stern action will be taken against them.
