UEFA World Cup Qualifiers: Scotland scripts history

UEFA World Cup Qualifiers: As the hype for the FIFA qualifiers gathers momentum among the teams, new updates keep coming up. Scotland contributed to this intense increasing buzz as they surprised fans by finally ending their 28-year wait for a World Cup berth after coming from behind to win dramatically against Denmark by 4-2 on the final qualifying day. The team netted two later goals to guarantee qualification.

This is the first time Scotland has qualified for a World Cup since 1998, while Denmark advanced to the playoffs.

Spain qualified for the finals for the 17th time with a 2-2 draw against Turkey. These qualifiers were also a turning point for Austria, as they have qualified for the World Cup for the first time in 28 years.

Though they have had decent performances in many seasons of FIFA World Cup, Scotland has never reached beyond the group stage, going out on goal difference in 1974, 1978, and 1982, but they have had some great moments, like the famous 3–2 win over the Netherlands in 1978.
