[LIVE Updates] | WPL Auction 2026: All eyes on Deepti Sharma, Wolvaardt, Ecclestone as they set for bumper bids! News24 –

Women Premier League Auction 2026 Live Updates: Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the first-ever mega auction in Women’s Premier League (WPL) history. After redefining Indian women’s cricket in 2023, the five-team league is gearing up for another massive leap forward boosted even further by India’s triumphant 2025 World Cup campaign.

The much-awaited auction is set for Thursday in New Delhi, where 277 players – 194 from India and 83 from overseas, will go under the hammer. Proceedings will kick off with the marquee set featuring eight big names: Deepti Sharma, Renuka Singh, Sophie Devine, Amelia Kerr, Sophie Ecclestone, Alyssa Healy, Meg Lanning, and Laura Wolvaardt.

Across the five franchises, 73 slots are up for grabs, including 23 overseas spots, with each team allowed to build a squad of 15 to 18 players. A major new twist this year is the introduction of Right to Match (RTM) cards – teams can use up to five to bring back players from their 2025 squads. Franchises that retained fewer players will benefit from more RTMs and a larger purse, contributing to a combined auction pool of Rs 41.1 crore.

What is RTM in WPL Auction 2026?

RTM or Right-to-Match allows an IPL team to retain a player from its previous squad by matching the highest bid made by another franchise at an auction. This option is only available to teams that did not use their full quota of six player retentions before the auction, with the number of RTM cards equal to the number of players they could have retained but didn’t.
