Delhi Weather Update: IMD sounds red alert as dense fog and severe pollution hit capital; Advisory issued – check area-wise AQI

Delhi Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded a red alert for dense fog in the national capital, as visibility reduced sharply across several areas of the city on Tuesday. Photos and videos shared on social media showed a thick layer of fog shrouding roads, highways, and residential areas, leading to traffic disruptions.

IMD has forecast dense to very dense fog to prevail during the morning hours today, December 30, 2025. Skies will remain partly cloudy until mid-week. A yellow alert is in place for dense fog on Wednesday, with cold conditions persisting and temperatures remaining low. Visuals from the site showed the Saket and ITO area engulfed in dense fog last night, making commuting extremely difficult for people.

Delhi is expected to experience dense to moderate fog over the next few days, leading to an impact on visibility and daily life. Temperatures are predicted to remain between a maximum range of 23 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 8 degrees Celsius.

Delhi airport issues advisory

The worsening weather has also prompted several advisories from the airport operator and airlines, warning of disruptions. As dense fog and cold wave intensify, Delhi Airport has issued an advisory, urging passengers to contact their respective airlines for the latest information.

“Flight operations are continuing normally as visibility at the airport improves. Passengers are requested to contact their respective airlines for the latest flight information. Please be assured that our on-ground officials are available across all terminals to provide necessary support,” the advisory read.
