Bangladesh to ban IPL? BCB issues strong warning after KKR throws out Mustafizur Rahman from IPL 2026

Relations between India and Bangladesh are currently tense due to ongoing violence against Hindus in Bangladesh. During the IPL mini-auction on December 16th, Kolkata Knight Riders purchased Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman. In response, the BCCI instructed KKR to release Mustafizur Rahman, which the team complied with.

IPL 2026: Will It Be Broadcast in Bangladesh?

Bangladesh’s sports advisor, Asif Nazrul, has now made a strong statement regarding the issue. He told the media:
“I have requested the Information and Broadcasting Advisor to suspend the broadcast of the IPL in Bangladesh. Under no circumstances will we tolerate any disrespect to Bangladeshi cricket, its players, or Bangladesh itself. The days of slavery are over.”

Nazrul also indicated that Bangladesh may reconsider playing World Cup matches in India. He has asked the Sports Ministry to formally submit the matter to the ICC in writing, explaining the situation. On Facebook, he discussed the possibility of relocating Bangladesh’s upcoming World Cup matches in India to Sri Lanka.

“As an advisor to the Ministry of Sports, I have asked the Board to explain this matter in writing to the ICC. The Board should clarify that if Bangladeshi players feel unsafe playing in India despite being under contract, the Bangladesh team will not travel there for the World Cup. I have also instructed the Board to formally request that Bangladesh’s World Cup matches be held in Sri Lanka,” Nazrul added.
