Chris Jericho return rumors intensify ahead of RAW’s first anniversary show

Chris Jericho might be able to surprise the wrestling fans by making a comeback to WWE as early as January 5. It has been disclosed not long ago that his AEW contract will only be valid till December 31, 2025, which makes him a free agent. Even months before Jericho’s contract expiration, there were rumors about Y2J potentially going back to his previous employer. The last time Jericho was seen in All Elite Wrestling was in May.

Championship Clashes Headline RAW’s First-Year Anniversary Show

On the other hand, January 5 signifies the red brand’s first year on Netflix. The show has great expectations, including three championship bouts lined up. In a video posted on X, the brand’s manager, Adam Pearce, revealed the program for the following Raw episode and at the same time hinted at a possible Chris Jericho comeback.

“Alright, everybody, Monday Night Raw is live tomorrow night from Brooklyn, New York, and it is our one-year anniversary on Netflix. We have a stacked card, first things first, breaking news, for the first time in six months, Liv Morgan will be in singles action against Lyra Valkyria, and do not forget three humongous championship matches; who can break down the walls and claim the gold?”

Chris Jericho return speculation faces skepticism

The expression breaking down the walls alludes to Jericho’s theme song and submission finisher. There have been various rumors and reports, but still, there are some people who think that Chris Jericho would not come back to the WWE, not only for the January 5 episode but also permanently. In a recent episode of The Coach & Bro podcast, the company’s former head writer, Vince Russo, asserted that Jericho does not have to return to the Stamford promotion.

Vince Russo Suggests Non-Wrestling Role for Chris Jericho

The current demand for physicality, which the 55-year-old does not have to go head-to-head with the young wrestlers, was one of the factors he mentioned. He also suggested that if Chris Jericho came back, it would be in a non-wrestling role.

“He can’t come in and wrestle at all.Chris Jericho return rumors intensify ahead of RAW’s first anniversary show

He doesn’t need to . We’re talkin about Chris Jericho here, he does not need to wrestle. You just need to get him in the right role and give him good creative, that’ all he needs.”
