Tilak Varma shares health update after undergoing surgery, says ‘I’ll be back on….’

Team India faced a significant blow ahead of the five-match T20I series against New Zealand as Tilak Varma will be missing the opening three games. The 23-year old left-handed batter underwent a surgery in Rajkot suffering a medical emergency during domestic competition.

After the surgery Tilak Varma shared a health update which mentioned that he is recovering and will be back on the field soon. He posted a story on Instagram and wrote – ““Thank you for all the overwhelming love! Already on the road to recovery, and I’ll be back on the field sooner than you know it.”

He was admitted in hospital after he felt severe pain in abdomen which has now raised serious concerns about his participation in the T20I series against New Zealand and T20 World Cup 2026. The left-handed batter complained about the discomfort on the morning of January 7 in Rajkot after he finished his breakfast – a day before Hyderabad’s match of the final league fixture of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
