WWE: Trish Stratus’ ’25 Years of Trish’ event scrapped, wrestling legend to make a comeback in 2026

In 2025, Trish Stratus competed in just three wrestling matches. Last year, she was one of the contenders for the Women’s Royal Rumble match. After that, she teamed up with Tiffany Stratton to face Candice LaRae and Nia Jax at WWE Elimination Chamber. Her final WWE match was at WWE Evolution, where she challenged Tiffany for the WWE Women’s Title.

WWE’s Internal Plans for a Major Trish Stratus Return

In a recent Fightful Select Answers Q&A session, Sean Ross Sapp revealed that Trish was expected to be more active in the WWE ring in 2025. WWE had also internally discussed doing something special to celebrate “25 Years of Trish Stratus” that year. However, the plans were never announced and were ultimately dropped.

Industry Insiders Surprised by WWE’s Decision

Despite her availability and willingness to contribute ideas, Trish was booked sparingly throughout the year. Sapp said, “There were a lot of people around her and in WWE who were very surprised she didn’t wrestle more throughout the year. The expectation was that WWE would do some sort of ‘25 Years of Trish Stratus’ thing, and it just didn’t happen… People I speak to say she’s always pitched ideas and made herself available.”

Looking ahead, Sapp suggested that fans should expect to see Trish return in 2026. “I think we’ll see her at some point in 2026,” he added. (H/T: Fightful Select)

Injury That Reshaped WWE’s Creative Plans

During the 2000s, WWE had planned a romantic storyline involving Trish Stratus and Jeff Hardy, intended to shift attention away from her traditional rivalry with Lita and form a new “it couple.” However, the angle was never realized. Trish later explained on X that a leg fracture interrupted the storyline, preventing her from performing for an extended period. By the time she recovered, WWE had already moved in a different creative direction.
