Bangladesh had looked in control while chasing India’s total of 238 in a reduced 49-over match. At one stage, they were 102 for 2 after 20 overs, comfortably ahead of the DLS par score of 88. Vihaan Malhotra’s off-spin was key, dismissing Kalam Siddiki (15), Sheikh Parvez Jibon (7), Rizan Hossan (15), and Samiun Basir (2), causing panic in the middle order as five wickets fell in 33 balls. Left-arm spinner Khilan Patel then removed Bangladesh captain Azizul Hakim, who top-scored with 51 off 72 balls (4 fours, 1 six), misjudging a full toss and gifting a catch at long-on. Henil Patel cleaned up the tail by dismissing Iqbal Hossain Emon, sealing India’s win.
Bangladesh had begun well
Earlier, Bangladesh had begun well, despite losing Zawad Abrar in the opening over to Deepesh Devendran. A solid 50-plus partnership between Rifat Beg (37 off 37) and Hakim kept them in the game, with Beg hitting four fours and a six, including a loft over deep square leg. However, Malhotra’s spell completely turned the match in India’s favor.
