It was a horrific night for Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz as he was hit by the ball while trying to reach back on strike and prevent a run out. In the match against West Indies, Gurbaz scored a half-century in 44 balls while Afghanistan was chasing a target of 152.

In the 15th over, when Gurbaz was batting at 53, Darwish Rasooli was on the strikers end and Gurbaz on non-strikers with Shamar Springer as the bowler. Rasooli hit the ball and thought that there was a single but he denied at the end moment. Gurbaz ran back to his end while Gudakesh Motie collected the ball and threw it which directly went and hit Gurbaz.

As soon as the ball hit, Gurbaz collapsed on the ground and the umpire, fielders rushed to help him as the medical team arrived. According to ESPN, his jaw has a serious cut but he was strong enough to bounce back from the injury and put back his helmet.

In the third T20I, batting first West Indies scored 151 with their skipper Brandon King being the top performer as he scored 47 off 35 balls. But the match took a twist when Afghanistan came in to bat, the complete batting order collapsed in the second innings and the team was all out at mere score of 138. Despite this, Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 73 runs and remained the sole warrior for his team. He had sustained an injury as well but that didn’t hinder him from performing exceptionally well. For West Indies, Shamar Springer took 4 wickets and put an exceptional effort with the ball.
